The viewpoint at the top is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The reward at the summit is a 360-degree view over the Guatapé reservoir’s flooded valley — a maze of green islands and turquoise inlets that formed when the area was dammed in the 1970s. Mornings are the best time to go, both for cooler temperatures on the climb and for softer light over the water. Weekday visits are noticeably quieter than weekends, when day-trippers from Medellín fill the stairs. Bring water and wear real shoes — sandals are common but not comfortable on the steeper sections.
